Troubleshooting the
Charging System
video on CD (not a DVD)
A well produced video about your electrical charging system. It begins with a fundamental explanation of electrical theory. Afterwards the components of the system are explained including the alternator, alternator control unit (ACU), voltage regulators, batteries, belts, connections, switches, and circuit breakers. Then, three primary failure modes are discussed (dead battery, undervoltage during run-up, and overvoltage conditions) along with their symptoms, likely causes, and fixes.
Even if your system has been trouble free, this video does a good job of explaining its functions and will help you to understand how to properly monitor it for early signs of problems.
Albeit, since the announcer is somewhat of a fast talker, you will probably need to run it 2-3 times to get a full understanding of the subject.
